Since we introduced Carla Vize-Martin's card range last year it has become a favourite with our customers. One of the best selling cards in the range is A Day to Remember. We love this beautiful landscape with rolling hills and wildflowers, painted in acrylic on board and we thought it would be a perfect featured card for November when Remembrance Day marks the end of World War One. The painting was inspired by Carla's long walks with the family's Irish Terrier, Fergus.
"We live in a small village in the heart of Hampshire, surrounded by rolling hills and wild flower hedgerows. These scenic walks seep into my subconscious mind, and at a later date they find their way onto my canvas. This particular painting was from a specific walk that I remembered hence the title, and with the inclusion of poppies it seemed very fitting! "
A Day to Remember by Carla Vize-Martin
Carla grew up in the New Forest in the South of England. From an early age she was fascinated by nature's vibrant palette, the rich variety of flora and fauna, and the subtle changes of light and texture. Over the last ten years Carla has built her reputation as a leading floral and wildlife artist in the UK with exhibitions in venues from Southampton to York.
She has also been a featured artist at the Affordable Arts Fair in London and her large floral paintings and commissions are now held in private collections in the UK and across Europe. Her body of work includes both traditional paintings and, following the lead of such art luminaries as David Hockney, an increasing number of stunning digital works.

Carla's latest exhibition to raise funds for her local Village Hall and Community Shop was well attended. She is currently busy working on illustrations for a children's book, an exciting project we hope to know more about next year. We are very pleased that our customers seem to love her images as much as we do, fingers crossed there will be further additions to our Carla Vize-Martin card range in the future.
